Summary (completed)

This project constructs a new retaining wall to repair slope damage below Louis Thompson Hill Road at 210th Place SE. A new culvert will be constructed across the road, and a roadside bio-retention feature will be constructed between 211th and 210th Place SE.

Project Updates

***Road paint striping Louis Thompson Road on 4/30/2019***

The contractor is scheduled to paint lane lines on Louis Thompson RD at the intersections of 210th Place SE and 211th Place SE. These areas were paved on 4/16/2019.

Goals and Benefits

This project will repair slope damage and prevent the undermining of the roadway at the existing retaining wall. The storm drain modifications will help address the flooding and erosion that caused the washouts to the retaining wall in November 2015 and prevent erosion into upper Zackuse Creek.

Timeline

Construction is substantially complete on 1/2/2019.

Construction is planned to begin in late September 2018 and finish in late December 2018. Single lane closures may be expected through December 21 while the wall, guardrail, and planting items are completed.

Final road paving in the work area is planned for Spring 2019, when temperatures are warmer.

Budget

$1,275,730 Construction contract. This project is partly funded by the King County Wastewater Treatment Division (WaterWorks grant).

Permits, Environmental Review

The Hydraulic Project Approval was obtained from the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife to restore the stream buffer at the base of the wall failure.
