The Human Services Commission acts as an advisory group to the City Council. The Commission provides guidance on how best to meet the human service needs of the City.

The Commission makes recommendations to the City Council on topics such as:
- Development of human services in Sammamish
- Determination of human services priorities
- Human services grants and funding requests
- Emerging human services issues or concerns
